Was he by any chance stealthed when you fractured him? This could be similar to Old Ben's zeta where Thrawn first removes stealth, causing Nihilus to gain advantage, and then Fracture is applied.

If DN was Stealthed, Thrawn would not have been able to target him for Fracture.

One of the 4 hits from the Fracture probably was a critical and sent DN into Stealth via Zaul leadership. Fracture then dispelled Stealth, which caused DN to gain Advantage, and buff immunity from Fracture kicked in after that.

He could target him if all enemies were stealthed.

Despite the description, the damage portion actually happens last: https://swgoh.gg/characters/grand-admiral-thrawn/ability/fracture

So he would have been buff immune by the time the damage happened.

  Yup I purposely reproduced this during the Old Ben rework announcement to show that it has already been possible.
  If all sith are stealhed and Thrawn fractures one they will always gain advantage just like if zeta old ben is taunting and is fractured he will always gain taunt again. It is the order of operations for Thrawn fracture ability. @CG_MindTricks it was stated it was working as intended for OB taunt not sure why is suddenly a bug for zeta maul lead when it is the same exact scenario just different buffs.

    You know the answer. ONE of them is a Rebel... and ONE of them is not....
