Unfair GAC matchups

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Summarize your bug Frequently got unfair matchups in GAC. This unfair matchup has been disappointing for me for a long time now since the change of GA to GAC matchmaking. I always get faced with opponents with much higher overall GP. In addition, mods, relics and gear differences are not considered. Even the championship past results showing that this opponent is having a lot more advantage over me. This has jeopardized my chances of getting decent rewards. I never get to Kyber league since the GAC introduced it. I have attached the screenshots on the differences between myself and my opponent this round. U can see the difference that there is no way I can win this match. This doesn’t only happen every now and then but almost all of my matchups has been like this. This is very disappointing for me as a player to get such unfair matchups.

    @arthurhkyeung Sorry to hear you feel the GA matchups are unfair. Based on my understanding of the algorithms, this appears to be consistent with standard matching criteria, so is working as expected.

    Notice how the top 80 gp between the two of you is very close, and you have more r7 characters (which is a significant chunk of gp). The difference between 6M and 7M is not that significant in Ga, given that so you each will have many unused characters.

    Thanks for the reply but seems that you don’t quite understand how GAC works. I fully understand the matchmaking mechanism but 1M GP difference plus the mods differences and zeta differences creates very unfairness for GAC play.

    @arthurhkyeung Thanks for your concern. I’m only 5.6M, not 6.0M like you, but I feel I understand GAC pretty well, having reached Kyber about half the time.

    Mods aren’t taken into account for matchmaking. He has more zetas installed, and you have more r7 characters. Upgrading a character to r7 adds more GP than a single zeta.

    And as far as that million “not mattering” - if you manage to one-shot your opponent’s board, you’ll use a maximum of about 1.1M ship GP (defense & offense fleet) and maybe 2M character GP (14 squads at 140k gp). Your opponent has the same limitation. So in the end, you’ll leave about 2.9M unused, and they will leave 3.9M unused. Unused characters don’t impact you at all. This is why the matching criteria is primarily based on the top characters in your respective accounts.

    The only advantage that extra 1M gp adds is a deeper roster for more options - but at our levels both rosters should be deep enough anyway. I have fought players with much lower GP than me and lost, and fought players with much higher Gp than me and won. Raw Gp is irrelevant.
