Burglars don't seem to be working in this version of the game. I'll often hear the audio sting at night, but no one appears (sometimes it's the raccoon of course but other time it's nothing at all). A few times when I've been able to see the edge of the lot, I've seen the burglar appear for a moment after the sting plays, but he immediately disappears while still at the edge of the lot.
bklj2007 thank you very much for your efforts. This greatly appreciated. Would you be able to add an IFF file to your Dropbox in which the Racoon El Bandido and the Burglar, and perhaps other PIP events and danger tune events such as the Bear are disabled (e.g. have a zero percentage of appearing) ? This bug in combination with the music has significantly reduced my willingness to play the Sims in the last 20 years. I think many people will appreciate this. Thank you.
Thank you very much! So far I have been enjoying these fixes. Only one so far I noticed not working is the disappearing bandit. For some reason he still disappears for me :(
Ohh thanks a lot, I love that the thief appears but sometimes the music plays and he doesn't appear, as indicated here.

The problem of hearing the sound and not seeing the thief has been happening since I started using memory back in 2000 in the original game jajajaja.
You still saw the burglar disappear, or just haven't seen them at all? The thief appears fairly rarely by default (~3% each night), so not immediately noticeable the fix is working until he shows up again. Did you place only the NPCController.iff file in the GameData\Objects folder (it's the same folder as Objects.far).
You can try the debug/testing version if you want to be sure you've placed the file correctly, the burglar will show up every night in that version if everyone is asleep and tell you what he's about to steal so you can be sure it's working.
thank you for all the fixings...just put them all in my game cant wait to try them all out and finally finally see that darn burglar lol not been since install the games in january.
Since making this, I have actually been successfully (? lol) burgled. But I still do sometimes see the burglar appear at the edge of the lot only to immediately disappear again, so it does seem like there's still an issue with them. Just maybe one that doesn't occur 100% of the time.
played half the nite yay my burglar is back... still working on the other fixes u had makes the game fun to play again thanks again.
