I can't run The Sims
I recently bought The Sims Birthday Bundle, and when I press the play button for The Sims the game starts for a second before it closes and the EA app opens up again. Though The Sims 2 is running perfectly fine.

I came here for the same reason and just solved the problem with instructions from this post: Can't play sims 1 at all, won't even start. | EA Forums - 11857522

majyay If you still can't play, please try reinstalling your 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes. Open Windows Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall everything from 2015 and newer. Don't touch the older versions.
Download the x86 and x64 versions (not the ARM version) of the 2022 runtimes from Microsoft:

Install the runtimes, restart your computer, and try to play.
