Love The Sims

Hello everyone I have a question regarding The Sims.  I have been playing the game since 2003, and since I have seen different townies in the game, like the BFFs, landgrabbs, and pancakes. they are new to me. Can someone give me the whole scenario of the game? What happen to the other townies in the first game? The very first one.  I still have the collection.  Just thought maybe someone in the Sim world would know, and enlighten me.  Thank you.
