AnaiyaIllyria Please update your laptop's Nvidia graphics driver, which is almost two years old. You can get the newest driver here:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
Use the Game Ready Driver on the right. Run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer afterwards and before trying to play.
If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor. Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day. Today is on the right.
Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 1 crash. If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here. If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

If so, please disable any services in the Task Manager that belong to Killer. Be sure to look through the background processes list too. Anything you find will likely restart with Windows, so this is an interim workaround rather than a permanent fix, but it's also a simple test.

Correct, that was the time the game crashed. After having disabled it and trying the game again it is still crashing but no error is being generated in the reliability monitor.
AnaiyaIllyria Does the crash happen when the car shows up? I did see another report of the carpool car triggering a crash. And does it help to force your sim into a new job? You wouldn't need to save your progress; this would just be for testing purposes.
If you do want to back up your save data, it's located here:
C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 25
You could make a backup of the Sims 25 folder, experiment in-game however much you wanted, and when you were done, trash the current folder and restore the old one to go back to where you were.

The crash happens shortly after the car arrives. The car arrives, the go to work picture appears in the queue, the sim changes into her work clothes then walks out the door and partway across the street to the car and then the game crashes.
I had her take a job as a waitress this morning to test if the game was still crashing when switching careers and the car arrived and she went to work without a crash. I did not progress farther up the career ladder for that career due to time constraints this morning and did not save after taking the new job but I can test more with that later if it will help.
AnaiyaIllyria I would definitely be interested in knowing whether the different career helped, or maybe a different car, although it sounds like the car itself isn't the issue. If you're curious, you could also try having your sim rejoin the same career and climb back up the ladder, although that does take some time.

So I had her rejoin the hacker career path and got her promoted all the way back up to the venture capitalist and it did not crash. I was able to get her promoted past the venture capitalist and have had no other crashes.
AnaiyaIllyria That's great news. I have no idea why the game was crashing before, but at least it's a one-off problem rather than something global.
