The Sims™ Legacy Collection won't Launch - Crashes without error

Hello!

I wanted to submit my crash report for RTX 5090 crashing The Sims Legacy on start up. The Sims 2 Legacy seems unaffected.

There is no error message. Sims.exe runs for approx. one second then crashes without displaying anything.

The only change has been upgrading from a RTX 4090 to 5090 (and subsequent driver upgrade).

I also tried this out on a RTX 5090 Mobile and there was also this crash. From this and other reports (mentioning 5080s, etc.), along with unofficial guidance if you roll back to a certain driver date, it will work.

I have also tested this on machines where a secondary graphics chipset is available (i.e. CPU-based Intel UHD Graphics), and I still could not get it to run even when assigning it to use the integrated graphics in Windows.

Unfortunately, unless we roll back the drivers each time, we apparently cannot play. Which is sad when you come home from work and realize you can't play the game because the GPU you're working to pay for is causing it. :'(

I second this. We are still waiting for a solution 😭 only way I’m able to play is on my husband’s old laptop from 2018. And I’ve got a perfectly good 5080. Make it make sense

50 series GPU’s and their recent drivers have been very bad for the last couple months

I'm also on the RTX 5080 and having the same issue. Dangggg

After downgrading my NVIDIA drivers to 572.83, the game launches without issues! I was able to download the old driver here https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/, if you ever wanted to try downgrading.

Hopefully future releases are able to support the game again. Not sure if this issue should be raised on the EA side or NVIDIA side

Hi to you before the 576.02 update it seems to me that the game worked normally, with the integrated GPU it can work but I don't have an integrated GPU so the game is unplayable for me...

I understand this issue a bit more now. I have learnt that the reason the game can launch while a Nvidia driver upgrade is in progress is because the Nvidia driver is temporarily disabled.

To further verify this I opened Windows Device Manager, navigated to "Display adapters," right-clicked on my NVIDIA device, and select "Disable device". This forced my PC to launch the game with my AMD graphics driver. Which confirms the RTX 5080 is the main issue

I did a few tests with downgrading and upgrading my Nvidia drivers between 576.02 and 576.28 I found that the game would launch only during the driver upgrade process, which is odd haha. But the test definitely suggests that the driver could be related to my runtime crash.

After playing around with the drivers, I am able to get the game to launch somewhat reliably now. But hopefully the game is able to launch with some more stability when new drivers are released in the future
