The Sims 1 Legacy: Resolution Issue
Hello everyone, I'm facing a resolution issue with The Sims 1 Legacy. Everything is working perfectly; the game starts normally with no errors or other anomalies. However, it starts in a very small resolution in the upper corner of the screen, while the rest is all black. The clickable area is as if the game is in full screen, making it impossible to play as I have to "guess" which black part of the screen I need to click to access the game functions. Before posting on this forum, I tried several solutions and found some temporary fixes. The issue seems to be related to Windows window scaling. For some reason, the game is conflicting with the recommended Windows scaling (in my case, 150% due to my 4K monitor with a resolution of 3840x2160). A temporary fix I found is that if I opt for a custom scaling (any value between 100-500), the issue is resolved, and I can play without any resolution problems. However, this scaling is applied equally to all connected monitors (yes, I have 2, one 4K and one Full HD), causing one or the other to have a huge or extremely small Windows interface. Additionally, my computer has been recently formatted. I've reinstalled the driver for my graphics card (Nvidia RTX 3070) multiple times and tried adjusting the game's individual settings to no avail. The only way I can play is by setting a custom scaling. Could anyone provide a more permanent solution to this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.698Views2likes20CommentsSims 1 legacy edition- Why does it do this? Not rendering anything
I can make a sim fine but when I move in the house isn’t there I hover my mouse and objects appear but disappear after. I’ve tried doing what ea support have suggested like clearing cache and what others have suggested such as downloading new graphics driver. I don’t know what else to do and I’m so disappointed I was so excited to play.Solved207Views0likes9CommentsTranslation Issue in Game Settings
I would like to report a spelling error in the Brazilian Portuguese language settings of the game. I noticed that the word "Voice" is incorrectly translated as "Vox". The correct translation should be "Voz", with a "z" at the end instead of an "x".18Views0likes0CommentsSpanish Localization incorrect character names
Some Sims in the first entry have some different names/surnames than their future iterations' appearances, in TS1 the Goth family even uses 2 different surnames for the Mortimer/Bella household and the Gunther/Cornelia one ?????? (This was fixed in TS2/TS3). I'm using future iterations of the characters and not TS1 because those are actually consistent and TS1 is the "wrong" one in comparison. The format is "Wrong name/Surname -> Correct name/surname (according to TS2/TS3/TS4) Gunther Hernández -> Gúnter Lápida Cornelia Hernández -> Cornelia Lápida Menelaus Hernández -> Menelaus Lápida Hecuba Hernández -> Hecuba Lápida Miguel Soltero -> Miguel De la Soledad Virginia Gentil -> Remedios Gentil Señorita Traseroajado -> Señorita Culoprieto Ginia Fernández -> Ginia Gati Waggles Fernández -> Waggles Gati Boots Fernández -> Boots Gati Scout Fernández -> Scout Gati Maggie Fernández -> Maggie Gati Brad Pérez -> Alejo Clavel Tiffany Pérez -> Tífani Clavel Johnny Pérez -> Lolo Clavel Tucker Pérez -> Tucker Clavel La Autovía Gunther Goth -> La Autovía Gúnter Lápida (this one isn't a Sim name, it's the name of the Gunther Goth Highway) Honestly, I don't think this is as important as some bugs, but I feel like keeping lore consistency is important in such a big series so (if possible) I'd love to see this fixed at some point :))))75Views2likes3CommentsMake UKEnglish version of The Sims 1 legacy to use 24H clock
(Post is about The Sims 1) Maybe I'm just too old and remember it wrong, but as far as I remember, in The Sims 2, the USEnglish uses 12H clock and UKEnglish 24H clock. Right now there are 2 absolutely identical game locales in The Sims 1 Legacy with the same text and almost no differences (except Vacation being called On Holiday in some places), and both US and UK English use 12H clock. It would be nice if UKEnglish would use 24H clock instead of the 12. Yes, in UK there are 2 systems officially used, 24 and 12, but this way you could allow the people who want to play in English and use 24H clock a convenient option to change language to UKEnglish. Who want still use 12H clock could change the lang to USEnglish and vice-versa. There is a HUGE AMOUNT of players for which English is not a native language and they have no localized version for their language, so they play in English. But the 12-hour system may be very inconvenient for the foreigners. I personally speak English very well, but I would be happy to play the game in English but with the 24H clock. Adding it to UKEnglish would be a best way to use it. As alternative there would be implemented a new game option to use 24 or 12-hour clock system. Also, the more convenient option to change game language in-game would be great.102Views0likes3CommentsUnblock the RU language code (0D / 13) (-lRussian) in The Sims Legacy
There is already a language code for Russian language and it was in-game since the version 1.0 of the Sims. Even more, it seems to be working in pre-release version of The Sims 1 (Edith) but it was disabled later when the text got translated to other languages (except Russian). There is no official translation to Russian, OK, but dear devs can you finally unblock our language code which was intended to be enabled so we could finally make a quality translation mod by ourselves. Right now if you edit the game files with IFF Pencil or other tool and save the string in Russian localization space (using HEX code 0D or 13) and then start the game with the Russian language attribute (like having RUSSIAN in SIMS_OTHERLANGUAGE in Registry or adding "-lRussian" at the shortcut) it just ignores it and run the game in standard USEnglish locale. The problem is that both USEnglish and UKEnglish use 12H clock system which is absolutely makes no sense in Russian language and is hard to get away with it, so when you making a translation just by replacing the English text, this thing just spoils the thing. As alternative I saw the attempts to place the translated text in the Spanish or French locales (which use standard 24H clock) - but that results the Frensh or Spanish text in any additional objects/content when you put it to your downloads folder. This annoys so much. All the game files seems to fully support the possibility of Russian localization support: there is a Russian localization space in all .iff files, there is a mention of Russian in UIGraphics/Res_Languages.h: const Sint32 kRes_LanguageDefault = 0; const Sint32 kRes_LanguageUSEnglish = 1; const Sint32 kRes_LanguageUKEnglish = 2; ... const Sint32 kRes_LanguageFinnish = 11; const Sint32 kRes_LanguageHebrew = 12; const Sint32 kRes_LanguageRussian = 13; const Sint32 kRes_LanguagePortuguese = 14; const Sint32 kRes_LanguageJapanese = 15; ... There is even a separate Russian font folder in UIGraphics.far archive (trough these fonts dosen't support Russian letters actually, but it's not a problem we'll mod them). I've run several tests and right now I'm absolutely 100% sure that the language has been disabled right in Sims.exe: I just put Sims.exe from Sims Edith edition in Sims Legacy folder with modified UIText.iff having Russian strings for splashing messages in Russian localization space (0D or 13). It worked, trough game expectedly crashed soon after the launch, but the strings were in Russian from RU space (not the US one). Can you please just enable this language code again and make the life easier for such a big Russian speaking game community? Just enable the Russian / 0D lang code, we'll handle the perfect translation by our hands! It takes nothing from you, it's literally 1-word code change! Please EA, at the 25th anniversary of the game, can you finally bring us that possibility to have separate Russian line working? If anybody will ever create more objects for The Sims 1 they could finally place Russian translation in Russian line and English in English. I think this is a simple edit manupilation by just adding line 'Russian' next to 'Finnish' and before 'Portuguese' in the game code for Sims.exe so the game can finally load the text from 0D/13 locale. P.S. 'Hebrew' lang code was disabled the same way, maybe you'll have to enable it as well so Russian loc space could work fine, but I'm not sure about it114Views0likes0CommentsTS1LC Bug: Running in Background Mutes Audio and Lags
I'm glad today's patch prevents the game from minimizing when we alt-tab to another application. However, the game's audio shuts off. Second, I tested with the game in Live Mode and unpaused, TS1 technically is still running as it should, but there is tremendous lag. The game is running at a snail's pace. Not sure what the desired behavior is supposed to be when TS1 runs in the background. I would expect the audio to continue to play AND the game to run at a normal speed OR the audio to mute AND the game to freeze completely, even during unpaused Live Mode.60Views1like2Comments1080p Scaling still doesn't scale properly (March 15th Patch)
Well, the title says it all. This issue is supposed to be fixed in today's patch, but it's not. The UI in 1080p looks as tiny as it looked before. It's true we now can use a lower resolution to "fix" this issue, but it's not an ideal solution since I think everyone would want to use their native resolution with a decent UI size... Image 1 is the game running at 1364x768. Image 2 is the game running at 1920x1080. As you can see, the UI size is still VERY different in 1080p, the issue is not solved yet.143Views8likes5CommentsThe Sims™ Legacy Collection scaling issue (tiny UI) with 1080p displays only
UI scaling is broken on The Sims™ Legacy Collection when running a native 1920x1080 desktop resolution. Running at higher resolutions makes the UI scale up so it's not tiny, but running at a native 1080p desktop makes the UI tiny compared to all other resolutions. Screenshots clearly showing the 1080p UI scaling issue: https://imgur.com/gallery/sims-1-legacy-collection-25-years-good-resolution-scaling-vs-1080p-dIwm1f2 Changing the desktop resolution to anything other than 1080p solves the issue, however this is not a reasonable solution. EA can you please fix the faulty UI scaling @ 1080p, for The Sims™ Legacy Collection? Or at the very least include a setting for changing either the resolution of the game, or the scale of the UI, in the game's options as is the case with pretty much every other game released ever? Usually in windowed mode, you can ALT-Tab to bring up another window. However, the Sims 1, even with the "-w" command line option, will minimize and the audio will shut off when you try to switch applications or open up another window. This happens even if you turn on the in-game option to "Sim in Background" And yes, you also can't run in background during full screen mode.Solved121Views3likes8Comments
