I got The Sims 1 (the legacy package, haven't tried ts 2 yet) re-release this weekend and I absolutely love it! But sadly the game crashes at random times while playing, usually around an hour of gam...
Hey, fellow Sims 1 players! I wanted to share a solution I found for anyone experiencing constant crashes in The Sims 1.
After some troubleshooting, I discovered the crashes are specifically occurring when:
The game is running at superspeed (3x)
Simlish speech is enabled (crash logs show the error happens during sound execution)
The Fix: Sim-ply ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) disable Sim speech in the game options. The game should then run stable at superspeed without crashing. You can still keep other sound effects and music enabled - it's just the Simlish that needs to be turned off.
To disable Sim speech:
Click the Options button in the game and select Sound settings
Adjust the Speech slider all the way down
Keep Music and F/X at whatever level you prefer
Hope this helps others who've run into these crashes!
Note: I have only tested this on the Legacy version of the game, not the original release. I can't confirm if this issue exists or if this fix works for the original version.
Thank you! Turning the voices off worked for me. The game crashed even at x1 speed and now it hasn't crashed since. Strange bug, hope it gets resolved.
I'll try this, thanks! But also that's so sad, what's the sims without simlish 😟...
