A summary of most bugs to help
• Sims being completely deleted/erased every time the game loads – This is the most concerning issue reported so far. While it sounds quite similar to a OneDrive sync issue, many players have said that they either don’t have OneDrive installed or have it disabled.
• While OneDrive is known to reinstall and start syncing if you sign in to Microsoft Edge, for example, but not OneDrive specifically, the volume of reports about this issue is concerning, and so it's possible that EA has indeed messed something up in the game. I'll be running specific tests with and without OneDrive in the coming days to get a clearer picture on this.
• The crash may still occur - in some cases it appears to be because the graphics card is not in the database. Adding the GPU via Graphics Rules Maker will resolve this crash.
• The DX9 error can still occur - windowed mode may fix this. It can also occur due to a high refresh rate (above 100Hz) - while some people have no issues with the game running fullscreen at a high refresh rate, others are seeing the DX9 error. It's unclear why only some people with these refresh rates are affected, but either way, you can still use the Custom Resolution Utility (linked in the technical support section of our
wiki to add a custom refresh rate).
• The configuration log doesn't display the correct information for memory and free memory, and they don't bother adding graphics cards to the database now as they've taken the approach of tweaking the graphics rules, which makes more sense and is more future-proof than a file with GPUs listed.
• Some users experienced the game crashing until they added their GPU to the database with GRM (can also be done manually), so it may still be necessary.
• Audio/Sound Issues - Some users are reporting issues with audio sounding distorted/wrong/low quality. EA hopes to fix this if enough people report it on their forums or to customer support, as this is a paid release. This issue appears to affect a subset of users, likely with certain sound cards/drivers.
• Can't close custom skins dialog - whether you have custom skins or are just using debug mode to unlock debug skins, when you open the custom skins dialog in CAS, you can't close it as the buttons don't work. It's likely that EA forgot about this dialog (it only unlocks in debug mode or with custom skins present) when making changes to widescreen etc., and if they don't fix it, a mod can probably be made for it.
• EA app installation issues (direct X setup failed, corrupted installation files error) - try clearing the EA app cache and/or repairing the EA app, this should resolve the former if not the latter error - and Epic Games (16-bit app error) - this can be resolved by opening the Epic Games app after installation, going to your Epic library and clicking on the Sims 2 again, after which it should load.
Pink soup is occurring for some users
Soft edges may or may not be working - especially after
toggle out of game with alt+tab.
Crash when returning pets from work when they are due for a promotion - this is related to the rewards unlocked from pet promotions as it is
It's specifically when they are promoted that the crash occurs. Several players have tested using this mod which resulted in CAS crashing as well due to the collars - this indicates that the issue is with the collars being unlocked. A mod can probably be made to prevent them from being unlocked (or to fix the issue in the first place) if EA doesn't fix it.
• BodyShop and Package Installer seem to be missing - there is no CSBin for EP9 (Mansion and Garden). We recommend using Clean Installer instead.
Package Installer that comes with the game, as it allows you to select what is actually installed (you don't want mods and CC hitching a ride with a lot when they shouldn't!). As for the BodyShop, we'll test it using the UC CSBin files, it should probably work. • Cutscenes are buggy/glitchy.
• Mr. Humble sometimes gets stuck in a computer delivery loop. • Alien kidnapping is broken, with or without cutscenes enabled, an error will occur.
• Curious Family's Alien Birth is Broken - Possible All Male Alien Births/Pregnancies? Let me know if anyone checks!
• Food disappearing immediately after cooking.
• Errors occurring related to enthusiasm for hobbies.
• Problematic bug report, when a Sim goes on vacation, when they go to greet a local resident, the characters restart, which makes you no longer a tourist, and the hotel does not recognize you, leaving your Sim stuck. If you exit the game with your Sim on vacation, when you try to return to play, the family that is on vacation gets infinite loading
