Definitely Sims 2. The storylines for the premades that actually have an impact on gameplay if you want them to. The way the Sims look (yes they look better in general now, but there's something missing somehow). Perma-plat. I like having that goal to reach for that really has an impact on gameplay. The way Sims step over and around things instead of walking through them. Yes, making them go through things got rid of the routing failures, but it looks silly.
Cars. Instead of just poofing everywhere, Sims get in the car, they back out, and drive to the edge of the lot. Then they drive onto the new lot and actually get out. If you put the car in the Sim's inventory, they will appear in the car much as Sims do in Sims 3, but at least they are still in a car and not using a phone to teleport.
The meaningful way Sims interact. Sims in Sims 4 can be angry at each other one second and laughing and flirting the next. In Sims 2, if a Sim gets angry with another Sim, it takes awhile for that anger to go away. They will be fuming about it whenever they see that Sim and they'll want to fight with them. If you want to make peace and flirt, you have to put in some effort. I do occasionally like relationships to be easy, but a little realism is nice. Memories mean something. They have an impact on things the Sims say and do.
I could go on and on. 😂
