Oh man your card isn't showing up at all. That is odd if you had run the graphic rules. Oh well you can look up all the info you need and add it by hand.
First go to your documents, Ea games, Sims 2 UC folder. In the Sims 2 UC folder, go into the logs file. In that logs file you should see one with the (name of your pc) config-log. Open it. You may need to open it in notepad so you can read it.
Scroll down a little until you see a section called graphics device info. In this section you need to look up 2 things.
Name( Driver) Write down EXACTLY what it says next to this.
Chipset Vendor # Device # Board # Chipset # The only thing you need here is the DEVICE # write that down.
Go into your video card file in the config files ( not the .bak one) Scroll down until you get to the bottom of the Intel section. Under the last card listed ( card 0x29A2 "GMA 3000 (G965 Express Chipset Family)" You are going to add in your card.
Put card 0x(whatever the number was next to device is that you wrote down) "Name of the Name(driver)" you wrote down. Make sure you have the " " around the name. Note if it says Intel at the start of the name it lists, leave the Intel part off, and just put the rest. Save your changes, make sure they stick, COPY the video card file and put it in your CSConfig file as well, replacing whatever is in there.
Start your game and see if it will start."Simburian;c-16742201" wrote:
If you have managed to run this with the latest Windows update please let me know how, otherwise don't bother. Windows 10 update is the problem with its' Game Overlay for XBox taking over. Try running Origin's Bejewelled 3 as an example...Fatal error report to PopCap failure.
You can turn off the xbox gamebar. Right click the windows box, go to settings, open gaming, go to game bar and game dvr and turn everything off. I haven't had any of that junk pop up in ages. :D- EricasMyTouchQ7 years agoSeasoned AceNo luck. Did everything posted and still no luck. I guess the UC just hates this laptop. I have uninstalled it from my laptop but kept it on Origin.

I had an issue where if I ran the graphics rule maker, it would throw DirectX9 issues on my Windows 7 computer. I'd repair the game and it would be just fine. I was fine on that computer without needing to use it (I was trying for the shadow fix, which was the only thing I had a problem with on that computer). I just manually fixed it on my new computer without running the graphics rule maker on my new computer.
@EricasFreePlay If you do decide to try again, try just doing the steps that Jules mentioned and not running the graphics rule maker at all. - EricasMyTouchQ7 years agoSeasoned Ace

I may just wait until I upgrade again in a few years and then print a sheet with specs of all the games that I play and make sure my next laptop can run all of them. - Seera10247 years agoSeasoned Ace

Sims 2 will likely always need the graphics rules altered due to the new technology. And possible other hoops as technology continues to improve. On one desktop I had to install the early Sims 2 patches in Safe Mode because for whatever reason some software combination I had made installing in normal mode impossible. But on another computer, I had no issues with patching. And the OS was the same.
It's the one downside of wanting to play old games and new games at the same time. While the specs far exceed what the game requires for the old games, the old games weren't coded to recognize the hardware or the OS. Different games respond to that differently. Some don't run at all. Others require hoops to jumped through. Others assume minimum requirements. - Have you tried running the game in windowed mode? I had the same issue with Direct X9, but still wanted to play until I could find a better solution.

That would be a solution, IF the game would load.
