[CURRENT ISSUE] Aging does not fully revert when quitting without saving

It looks like more code has been broken again:

If you have any Sim transition into a new life stage, but then quit without saving, they will revert back to the original life stage they transitioned from, but unlike the Ultimate Collection where this issue does not occur, their 3D data, and appearance are not reverted back to their original appearances, despite not saving the game.

here’s an example; A child sim transitions into a teenager, I went back to the neighbourhood without saving. They returned to being a child, but their 3D data and appearance did not get reverted back, so now they have an appearance of being a teenager, but their height and the UI indicates they are a child. This needs fixing as this will break saves! This did not happen in older versions of The Sims 2.

The Sim as a child and their original appearance and 3D data. The Sim as a teenager and their updated appearance and 3D data. The Sim as a child once again (quit without saving or neighbourhood without saving) but their 3D data and appearance are still that of a teenager when it should be the first image posted as above.

Still no fix for this yet as of the recent patch. :(

Bumping this as I’d like some more people to comment if they’ve had this issue.

I had the same issue because my toddler/child got stuck on their mother after the birthday cake animation and I didn't save. But it resolved itself after I brought the toddler to a birthday cake again. Looked completely normal again after that.

  • I have reproduced this in my game by aging a child into a teen and it happened every time.

For some extra context, when quitting without saving, the game correctly reset the Sim's stats (age info was set back to child, they got the Grow Up aspiration back, and were technically considered a child, etc.); this info is stored in the Neighborhood package, which seems to be handled correctly depending on whether I saved or not.

However, the Sim's 3D data, like mentioned by the OP, was saved even when saving and quitting. This data is stored in the Sim's character file, and reloading causes the same issue as in OP's screenshot.

For now, I highly recommend keeping whatever appearance they have once they age up. You can always go to a clothing store and purchase whatever you'd like them to wear. I have been able to age up the bugged Sim the second time which fixed their appearance, but I cannot guarantee there won't be any long-term oddities.

Hmm this is quite an interesting bug to look at, my question is, since after you quit without saving, that sends them back to the child state but would aging them up again fix their appearance?

boltcore07 Aging them up again gives them the intended appearance, but I have not tested whether it causes any issues in long-term gameplay. I was able to select their aspiration, and they acted like a normal teen.
