Food disappears/doesn't spawn when preparing/cooking it.

Hi ! How can I even start this ? 
my sim just finished university and for some reason when he cooks he fails to spawn the dish he just made. I have a vanilla game with no CC whatsoever for the sims 2. Like he takes the food out of the fridge, preps it and then as soon as he uses the stove/oven or tries to pick it up from the counter he just resets as if he never even cooked. (He cooked fine in university, I tried to move him in and out of his current home, nothing fixed it. ) can anyone help me ? I was so excited to move him in into the neighborhood and start a family :(
