Hi markis829,
did you try to generate a new Sims 2 folder in your documents?
Please let me know which version of sims 2 do you have.

I have the same issue. So frustrating.

I have the legacy version. I ended up having to delete all files and reinstall before it went away. The issue started again after I sent a sim from
my household to college

My game has been crashing for OVER A MONTH. I can get as far as neighbourhood view, then when i select into a plot/family, it completely crashes. No error message. It is not due to mods and I have done every troubleshoot I can find and i have contacted EA help MULTIPLE times. All they do is close my tickets and ignore me. I am beyond frustrated.

I have sims 2 legacy and have tried that to not avail. I can get as far as the neigbourhood screen. When i select into a family/plot, it loads to 4 bars and crashes with no error message. I have done all the normal troubleshooting things and contacted EA Help MULTIPLE times. They just close the ticket and ignore me.

You’re save is likely corrupted you can’t do anything about it but to start a new save go to file explorer open document ea games the sims 2 legacy and delete neighborhoods folder don’t worry it will regenerate when you launch game also delete cache which is at the bottom 2 files Acceessory.cache and groups.cache if you have saves in other words you can drag the neighborhood folder to desk top and when you want to go back drag the new neighborhood folder to desktop and drag the old one in.

Is there a way to prevent it from corrupting? os was it just bad luck on my part?

If you have mods it can cause corruption but you would also experience crazy glitches if you delete a mod but don’t delete the Acceessory.cache and groups.cache it can cause unexpected behavior. Also when the sims 2 legacy first came out in January 2025 there was a bug were the game would delete parts of the save file which caused sims to disappear. This has been fixed but saves affected will have unexpected behavior if continued to be played. Also it is just bad luck but I would crack your mods if any to see if any are breaking your game.
