How did you start your first save?

When you first started playing, how did you start your first save game? And have you changed how you start new saves in comparison to your first?

  • The first two times I played were pretty hectic in the sims 2.

The first time I played (2005) I created a single male sim who ended up dying because he was very hungry and very tired so when he treid to cook a TV dinner, he kept falling asleep and then died before he could finish.

being "Smart" I decided to next play a family (husband and wife) with two toddlers (1 male and 1 female). Luckily no one died, but because I was new at the game I ended up devoting all my time to taking care of them, and didn't get to make friends or interact with the neighbors like I thought I would be able to do.

Now I have my own game in custom neighborhood with many downloaded lots, custom npcs, and more set in a steampunk Victorian era with bits and bobs from future eras (for example some places have old style or classy tvs.)
  • I started by creating my own custom neighborhood. Back then, I would always create the same self-insert Sim, have my little happy family and repeat. These days I find it more fun to mingle with the townies and neighbors in Pleasantview and Strangetown.
  • Sims 4 was the first PC Sims game I ever played. When I got Sims 2 and 3, I recreated the same sim I had made in 4, David Powers, a redheaded, freckled, gay man, he had the athletic and neat traits, as I remember.
  • I actually started with Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, but they were married and had five kids. I named them- seems ironic now since the final book came out a few years later- James, Albus, Remus, Sirius(they were twins) and Lily.

**Highlighted names are actually what JK Rowling chose. I about died when I read the last book!
  • The first things I did the TS2 were the tutorial (and being sarcastically surprised with the announcement that 'Now The Sims is in 3-D!', and then the my first Sim was named Mackenna Stuart. The most notable things that I remember from that family was that I gave her braids, which was weirdly important to me (idk why), and that her husband was like half her age because he was a townie that I had her be with when I realized that she was getting so old.
  • The very first save I played, I remember I played with the Goth family. Then I made some sims, it was a sim couple and I built them this hideous house and they had a baby. That’s all I can remember. Lol
  • I explored the premade households in Pleasantview and then made some of my own sims. The first ones I made were a small family and I managed to get their child taken away.
  • That was 15 years ago lol! I guess I created a bunch of sims, and didn't played the premades much to begin with; a trend I largely corrected 15 years later ^.^
  • My very first time playing TS2 was about a year after TS3 came out. I started out creating my simself of me and my husband but of course being new to the game, I didn't know that I was suppose to set the relationship for them to either be bf or husband/wife. So with that being said, my first gameplay didn't go as well as it should had. I had placed them in a 1 bedroom house, so every time I tried to get them to sleep in the same bed, one would sleep in it while the other one refused to sleep in it.

I had no clue that we were supposed to pay the bills every few days, so the repo man/woman kept coming to the house to repo something from there.

I also didn't know that I couldn't have them multi-task in the game. I had my SS start cooking dinner and I so I thought that I would let her read a book while the food was cooking. Well you can guess what happens next. Yup, the kitchen catches on fire and my SS freaked out while the other sim was trying to put out the fire which he failed to do and died. And so the Grim Reaper shows up and takes his body and leaves his urn on the floor for me.

So with all that happened in the first couple of hours playing, I ended up not saving the game and started over with trying to get their relationship built up so that they can be gf/gf... :)
  • I made a wife, husband and daughter. Looked like THE most generic blonde white couple with a kid but hey-
I moved them into a house in Pleasantview and started playing with them. My 8yr old self had absolutely NO clue what she was doing so instead wasted all her money on bad furnishing and then started playing with her family to realise that she didn't know what she was doing and almost starved the daughter to death....yeah the house didn't even have a toilet either so you can imagine how everyone was doing. After that experience I played the tutorial for a while and quickly got the hang of it.
