[READ FIRST] - Current issues with The Sims 2 Legacy Collection
Thanks to the players' reports, some new issues have been discovered in the newly released Sims 2 Legacy Collection. EA is currently investigating reported issues.
If you are experiencing one of these issues, please report them in the threads linked here, or an existing thread reporting the same issue. Although replies can be merged, threads cannot, which leads to lots of duplicates. If you still experience issues that have been addressed in the patches, please start a new thread and provide details.
You may attach crash logs and object errors, or your entire Logs folder, to your posts. By default, they are located in Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\Logs\
If you are sharing your entire Logs folder, please package it into a ZIP file and attach it to your post. You may also attach a DxDiag to your post:

Attempting to launch the game results in a DirectX 9 error

Running the game in Windowed Mode may prevent this. To do so, right-click on The Sims 2 Legacy icon on your desktop and open Properties. At the end of the Target line, add a space and then -w (including the dash), then save the changes. It should end up looking like this:
"...\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" -w
After loading the game, you may use Alt-Enter to switch to fullscreen. Alternatively, you can run The Sims 2 in borderless window with a third-party program, such as Borderless Gaming.
If your system has both integrated and discrete graphics, please try to run the game on the discrete GPU. Open your PC Settings, and go to System > Display > Graphics. Add Sims2EP9.exe to the list and select the option to run it on the high-performance GPU.
Quitting without saving does not revert changes made while aging up

Please save the game after a Sim ages up, otherwise they will end up with a shrunken body the next time you reload. This might also affect other physical changes, such as becoming an occult.
Beach lots on steep terrains suffer from visual glitches and crashing

Several issues related to these, including weird terrain textures. Affected lots may crash on the loading screen, or when attempting to build on them (raising/lowering terrain, drawing walls, or rooms). Terrain glitches and incorrect wave placements can be reported here:

Modular Stairs cannot be deleted after placing

At the moment, the only way to get rid of affected stairs is to "force error" on them with testing cheats enabled.

The game attempts to find a parent for the child to show off their report card to, but when the parents are not available it glitches out and resets them.

These cutscenes might play out incorrectly, although the cinematic will have issues, such as showing the baby on the floor or a Plumbob clipping into the Sim.

This is a bug that has been present since the beginning; aside from Mods, the only in-game solution is "rolling the pacifier" in Create-a-Sim. This may not be safe to do at the moment due to the game having issues with incorrectly saving character files.
[POSSIBLY FIXED] Rod Humble repeatedly delivering computers

Any Mod that stops Rod Humble from showing up can be used as a temporary band-aid for this issue. Please keep in mind that EA does not officially support Mods, so use at your own risk.
[FIXED - Feb 4 Patch] Pets returning home from work causes a crash

This may be related to the feature which unlocks additional pet assets (such as collars) when a pet earns a promotion. If you have any of these assets already unlocked, the game may also crash in Create a Pet when you try to open a catalog that contains these items.
[FIXED - Feb 6 Patch] Custom skintone catalog cannot be closed

This issue happens in 100% of cases. It also affects unmodded games if you try to access skintones hidden in Debug mode, such as the Alien skintone. Please do not open this catalog as you will have to force your game to close.
[FIXED - Feb 6 Patch] Alien abductions do not work when other Sims are present on the lot

This issue may be related to other Sims on the lot that try to react to the abduction. If the abducted Sim is the only one on the lot, they might be able to get abducted successfully.
