I updated the new Sims 2 Legacy update. Game unplayable now.

To start off, I have Intel(R) UHD Graphics 730 as my graphics card and play on Windows 11, running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Before the update, I read a forum post the other day and found that running the game in windowed mode fixed a lot of the crashing. I also found that right clicking the game's shortcut, going to properties, and adding " -w" to the target it fixed the issue of crashing in build/buy mode (for me anyway). I also saved the game every 15-20 mins just in case, and all was fine playing that way. It became a habit after too long, because I didn't want to lose any progress. Been playing a lot of families in Strangetown. Haven't played any other town yet.

But now, when I load in to play any family in Strangetown, it says the error I attached.

I also get errors in game that I push "cancel" on and they go away; it said "Enthusiam Tracker - Error: Hit Break Point Primitive" or something to that effect. Not sure what to do, but I want to play :( Gonna try and run it in Windows 10 compatibility mode to see if that does anything. Then in Windows 11. If no luck, I guess I have to wait until they give another update for the issue.

  • Trying deleting the userStartup.cheat file location in your user Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Config folder.

This is an important fix that disables "testing cheats" and will stop many error messages from displaying (but not that crash message, sadly). (EA must have accidentally installed this / enabled these cheats.)

  • I hope they can fix this because the game is not working for many people now.

  • I believe I found a workaround for this error. I had an anti-enthusiasm hack in Sims UC and just hadn't moved it over, until I got a bunch of these errors. I got them while my Sim was in the pool building athletic skill (and the associated hobby enthusiasm). After putting this hack in, I had him swim until his skill was completely filled. I didn't get any more errors. IF I do get anymore errors, I'll come back and say that it didn't work after all, but for now it seems it did.

The hack I have is called Mel_removeenthusiasmglobal. I googled around trying to figure out where I got it from (I've had it for a decade) and couldn't find it specifically. But my search did turn up versions made by others, including some on Mod the Sims. So just search for global mods or hacks that remove/stop hobby enthusiasm.
