When reaching the top of the natural scientist career track “Ecological Guru” the game “gives” you a bonus of $-32,734 taking that amount from family funds.

I think this is an old bug. I remember that I thought it was intended, because "you are ought to save the nature and therefore give not take". Nevertheless I quit without saving and removed all the money from the family funds. xD Can't remember if that helped.
