New Patch destroyed my Gameplay

Couldn't even play after one of my beloved Sims disappeared back at the re-release of the game, never ever had a Sim disappear on me before. I went back to my original Ultimate Collection for months, came back and had to download an update that made my screen so far away it hurt my eyes. Couldn't make any adjustments, saw a Youtube video that said now I have to enter a cheat just to change the resolution and couldn't even type into the cheat box. Which is apparently an issue that was supposed to be fixed with this patch! What an absolute mess. I've been playing Sims 2 since it's original 2004 release and this is absurd. Going back to the Ultimate Collection, again!!!!
