Problem with genetics the Sims 2 Legacy

Could the creators fix the genetics in The Sims 2 Legacy? It's about the inheritance of recessive genes (blond hair etc.) in sims created in family creation mode that have no ancestors. When we combine two sims created by the player where one has blond hair and blue eyes and the other has black hair and brown eyes, only children with black hair and brown eyes are born. This is quite frustrating because the fix mod no longer works with this version of the game and the sims 2 genetics are great!

Maybe it's first born syndorme, it's a bug in the game that when you have a baby and accpet the first one the next baby will always look the same, try turning off the cutscens in camera option and save right before your sim gives birth and wait until the child appears then quit to the neighborhood and go into the family again that should help.

    (sry for my haotic english)

Oh also you can "farm" babies with this as every time you quit and load the family again the baby will be diffrent that includes gender

firstborn syndrome and homozygote problem are two different things. Make such sims and spin the pacifier in cas. you will see that there will be only black hair

Oh ok, sorry for the misunderstanding, btw just out of curiosity what mod you were using?

  • That's by design, not a bug. You're seeing the dominant and recessive genes at work. (If you ever did punnett squares in biology, it works like that.) Black hair is dominant, so if a child receives the genetics for both blonde hair and black hair (as they would in the situation you described), the child will always have black hair. They will receive the recessive gene for blonde hair however, so when the child grows up and has kids of their own, they may have a child with blonde hair if the other parent also carries the genetics for blonde hair. One of the coolest features in TS2 in my opinion.

  • You can see a sim's genetics in live mode by typing in the cheat "simDNA [firstname]" (no quotes or brackets). If you create this family and load them into a lot, you'll be able to see using this cheat that the children carry the recessive gene for blonde hair.
