Re-purchased Sims 2 Legacy: New Error Msg when creating a family

I re-purchased the Sims 2 Legacy on EA this afternoon, with the hopes that the bugs were all fixed. Originally I couldn't even launch the game. 

As of today's re-purchase, I can get into the game and build on lots and create new worlds. But I am unable to create a family. The error pops up when I click the plus 1 sim option. Any tips? Should I ask for another refund and hope the next update fixes this error?
