Sims 2 bnot working

I try to run Sims 2 and I keep getting the pop up 'Some needed files were corrupted during the installation. Please reinstall this application'. The problem is, I can't even uninstall Sims 2 to even try and install it. I click 'uninstall' and nothing happens. I have tried repairing the game multiple times as well and nothing. I contacted EA through the chat system only to be told there is nothing they can do and I just have to 'wait and see' for EA to make an update to fix it. Do you know how long this will be? Rather annoyed I spent money on a game I can't even play and have no clue when I will be able to!
