Sims 2 Broke family broken

oh ok now both posts are suddenly showing up where they werent even existing before (said unavailable) . Now extra frustrated as some one on reddit kindly helping me and seeing the object error report on Kennedy

"The problem is that you didn't start a new neighborhood after the second patch came out, so your sim's inventory is full of garbage tokens due to the Manage Inventory bug. You'll have to clear them out in SimPE."

I thanked them and am very grateful for their help but my stomach sank when they mentioned having to use sim PE. whether this is why Brandi won't get pregnant I don't know and I don't really understand how its related to the repeating woohoo cutscene every time they try either.  I also had no idea starting a new neighbourhood was required after a patch.....

My problem with sim PE is that I have no clue where to begin with it I installed it add it runs and thats my only progress. NONE of the tutorials for how to use it  cover for legacy, and ultimate is not the same and I don;t have it and the version of PE I have  doesnt seem like the one most of the tutorials are for either, think its the latest one its the exe one,  only other thing I can think of is to bite the bullet and just delete my save if I can even find where that is as cant see a folder named save folder and start over.

 How do you add file paths to sim pe to even use it??? I'm just soo confused and frustrated right now .  Unless EA would be kind enough to fix the inventory bug so its not an issue. Weird thing is back when I had the disc version of the game fully patched  it ran perfectly and personally I never had a single issue with it despite all the corruption horror stories online now, Legacy on the other hand worked fine for the first few weeks then........ 

Cazamelia81 If this is indeed happening due to Manage Inventory being broken before the patch, I am currently working on a potential fix for the vacation issue in existing saves (infinite loading screen) which might work for your problem as well. If you don't mind, I could take a look at your neighborhood and see if it is the same issue; you can upload it to Google Drive and DM me the link.

Start up SimPe and let it finish loading all it's basic stuff. Then at the top, click Extra. Scroll down to preferences. A box will open showing the System Folders. All the packs will be listed on the left and the file paths on the right. For some reason, typing in the correct file paths manually does not work. You will need to click on each, then click on the ... that appears on the right in the little box. Choose browse, then navigate to Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\Base for the first one. 

Here's what you need (I'm including IKEA, but if you haven't installed it, you'll want to google the GitHub thread for installing IKEA before you do this):

C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\Base

C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\The Sims 2 Legacy

C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\EP1

Continue with: EP3, EP4, EP5, EP6, EP7, EP8, EP9

Then: SP1, SP2, SP4, SP5, SP6, SP7, and finally for IKEA SP8. 

Click OK at the bottom and it will save the new paths.

mate54 ok will do thankyou would be very grateful if it could be fixed. Weirdly after some trial and lots of errors they are now having a baby but I had to do genetic merger with the tombstone of life and death to get him pregnant with Brandi's baby,  it wont work the other way round at all but the second I tried it with him as the active sim baby chimes...yet he's the one who had the error. Thing is game will now treat it as an alien pregnancy so hope it will be ok. 😅

Once you've corrected the file paths, restart SimPe. Sometimes it gets "stuck" and needs a reset. At the top, select Tools. Scroll down to Neighborhood. Select your Neighborhood in the viewer, in this case Pleansantview. Let SimPe open it and completely load it, if you interrupt it, it will get stuck. You'll see a green loading bar at the very bottom appear and scroll. When it's done and has gone away, you are good to continue.

Looking at the list on your left, find Neighborhood Memory and click on it. A blue Neighborhood Memory text will appear in the large box on the right; click on that. It will pop up at the bottom with a dropdown menu of family names on the left and a box where the inventory appears on the right.

First, look at memories; this is also their inventory. (Hover over the space by the blue arrows with UP and Down and a scroll box will appear). Scroll through them and look for anything that could be mucking up the game: text that is in blue and says it's invisible (this is gossip and sometimes death memories they will gossip about later), [invisible] tokens that say Sim Loaded (they are already loaded and this should have disappeared), tokens that say Pregnancy since the Sim is not currently pregnant. NOT however tokens that say Pregnancy Modifier, as this is a token that makes them more likely to have twins when they are pregnant. Unless you don't want that possibility, in which case you can delete it. Any items that are listed as being in their inventory that are greyed out instead of green. If they are green, they are showing up properly when you look in the Sim's inventory. You can also delete memories that you consider clutter, like all the Met so and so's. Click Commit on the upper right of the Memories box. Then go up to the very top left, scroll down to save and save your changes. When you are done you can either hit the X on the far right or you can go into File and scroll down to Exit. 

I'd also recommend you download and install the ffs lot debugger. It has options to delete gossip and resolve some errors. I use it regularly in conjunction with SimPe just to keep things squeaky clean. As for the cut scene issue, if you don't want to start a fresh save, I'd recommend turning them off and using the event camera instead.

Thankyou for all your help, 🙂its going blank after navigating to the folders as soon as I click on the next line and at the bottom its  saying Nvidia DDS not found but the link to download it is no longer working, the site is there but the download goes to a page saying  not found. Is it required? Sorry newb here 😅

I've had SimPe for over a decade and just copied it over when I got a new computer, so I hadn't looked at any of the documentation or anything for it in who knows how long. The original site is only on the Wayback Machine these days sadly, but I was able to find a forum post for you on Mod the Sims that should be helpful. It does have a link for the Nvidia files you need. Ended up being quite helpful for me too because I see that there was an update posted in February of last year. I hadn't even thought to check.

Thankyou have sort of gotten SIM pe working now but wont let me browse sims or neighbourhoods via tools, it will not let me edit the save game path though which is the only one it already had on its own and is apparently  onedrive c:\users\me\onedrive\documents\music\documents\ea games\the sims 2 the one in the example just resets to that one.

But the path it defaults to path doesn't work and cant find one that does. Managed to change it to one that gave an error
