Sims 2 "First-Born Syndrome" Genetics Bug

I am writing to bring attention to a long-standing issue in The Sims 2 known as the "First-Born Syndrome" genetics bug. This bug causes the first baby born in each play session to have identical genetic traits, including physical appearance and personality, as the couple’s first-born child. As a result, the expected randomness and genetic diversity in the game are lost, limiting the player's experience.

This issue stems from the game's genetics algorithm, which resets to the same sequence every time the game is loaded. Since this greatly affects gameplay and realism, I urge you to consider addressing this bug in a future update or patch.

  • This is why I always “roll the pacifier” or randomize sim genetics on sims blender prior to any baby being born.

Rolling the pacifier is temporary workaround, but a patch should be released.

I understand, but it’s a 21 year old game and no one in the custom content community ever successfully (to my knowledge) made a patch for this, therefore I don’t think it’s possible. I would suggest just to develop a habit of rolling the pacifier anytime you run the game. I know it can be annoying but once it’s a habit it’s not to bad.
