The Sims 2 Legacy Collection is deletting the kids!

I spent two hours raising my sims child, then attempted to move to a bigger household and once that was done, I loaded the new house. It was stuck in the family loading screen for 10 minutes, so I restarted my laptop and booted up the game. Only to have my sims child be missing from the family. I was able to load up the family, but the child is completely gone. Has this happened to anyone else?
