Sims 2 Freezes When Switching to Fullscreen – Any Fixes?

Whenever I start The Sims 2, it only runs in Windowed Mode. To make this work, I have to add ‘-w’ in the properties.

The problem: when I try to switch to fullscreen mode using ALT + Enter, the game completely freezes and becomes unresponsive. The only way to play again is by restarting my entire system…

Does anyone know a fix for this? I really want to use edge-scrolling, but that only works in fullscreen mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
