Sims 2 Legacy - UI Scaling Issue

Since purchasing the Sims 2 Legacy edition, I have had an issue where the UI appears incredibly small and I struggle to read or accurately select options. This is especially an issue in CAS cause it obscures the view of your sim when trying to edit the face. For reference my desktop display is at  1920 x  1080. 

I have tried changing this within the games settings but the display resolution setting is greyed out.

I've looked for mods online to fix this and there doesn't appear to be a solution for the legacy edition version of the game. 

Has anyone got a fix for this that ACTUALLY works?
