I had the The Sims 2 Legacy Direct3D Error, but now I am having this problem. It crashes just like the Legacy Direct3D Error. I am having “The application has crashed. The application will now terminate” when I click any family. I tried all the new Neighborhoods and every household has the same problem. As soon as I click on the family, it ends up closing the entire game with this crash.
I found a possible fix in another thread, at least it has worked for me so far.

I just want to let you know that the game is working fine for me now. It is related to the shadows option. Maybe our graphic cards are not compatible with the specification of the game and Windows 10 and 11. I hope EA can find a way to fix this soon for future players.
At least we can play the game without shadows.
