Sims 2 Legacy Food Going missing and unable to use dining furniture

It seems to only be affecting foods at higher cooking levels like pork chops or salmon but when trying to actually cook them they just instead vanish. I have also had this issue where when using more expensive dining sets as soon as the character sits down to eat they teleport out of the seat. has anyone else experienced this bug?
