Sims 2 Legacy wont open - corrupted files

Question

I recently bought and downloaded Sims2 legacy but it won't launch. All that happens is the error below that states "Some needed files were corrupted during the installation. Please reinstall this application"

I've tried a repair and the uninstall button does not work. I've done a reboot just in case and still no go. (bought the bundle and sims1 works just fine)

help please!!

Got the patch today (Feb 6) and this issue is now resolved, but the game still won't launch.

The screen resolution changes and freezes to whatever windows I have open, then the mouse gets disabled. When I alt+tab i see sims open as a black screen, but cannot select it. Only way out is to ctrl+alt+delete then tab to Sims1 and press DEL to end the task (mouse disabled).
