Game Unplayable

I just purchased the Sims and Sims 2 bundle, and my Sims 2 game keeps crashing every time I try to create a sim. A message pops up saying the app crashed and will terminate. I keep seeing this happening under this forum and on Reddit. Is there anything I can do? I tried "repairing" the game, and that did not work.
