Sims 2 not saving!

I bought The Sims 2 Legacy Collection on Steam.  There is ann error when launching the game and a window pops-up stating: "You are running low on disk space and may encounter problems with your hame under these conditions. Are you sure you want to launch the hame?" But I have 268 GB of free disk space available, so I press Yes and proceed into the game. I can create and play with household. I clicked on  save button several times before deciding to quit sims 2.
! When I start the game back up it brings me back to the home screen where you can choose a ''new world'' but there is no mention of any save files that I made (only options for ''how to play'' and quit), as if I never had played the sims 2 before.

But the location of the game documents remains C:\Users\katpr\OneDrive\Documents\EA Games

Attributes of game documents : read-only. I can't change it, the changes are not saved.

 What can I do to keep the game progress? New laptop, windows 11
