Sims 2 re-release not launching

Hi! The fix that worked for me is to add -w to your launch properties (in either Steam or the EA App):

For EA App, open the App game library, click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the Sims 2 Legacy icon, select View properties, and add -w to the command line box. 

For Steam, add -w under Sims 2 > Properties > General > Launch Options.

Didn't work for me, same error from EA app says "problem on our end"

Mine is coming up with a screen that says "Some needed files were corrupted during installation. Please reinstall this application"

So I tried that but the EA app won't even let me uninstall it. I also tried running it as administrator and I tried the -w thing that people above replied. Nothing is working.

I purchased the Sims 1 & 2 bundle. Sims 1 works fine but Sims 2 won't load. It says I own the Ultimate collection but the Ultimate Collection says I don't own Sims 2 disk. I can't even uninstall & try a redownload. I paid $40 so I expect it to download the complete game & I be able to play it. If I have to search my house for my original sims 2 disks then it wasn't worth purchasing.
