Sims 2

I create a family that I play with, then I save the game in the evening and turn off the PC and when I want to play again the next day, either the Sim  has disappeared from the household or one of the pets has disappeared and they don't come back, no matter how many tricks I use. Is that a BUG? i bet there´s nothing i can do or?
