Just a bug report, I am unable to scold or praise pets for most behaviours except for hostility towards others.
I tested with a hack https://modthesims.info/d/197813/quot-learned-behaviour-quot-cheat-object-upd-01-nov-06.html from MTS to add a trained behaviour to a pet, and pet behaviours aren't even able to be added in a cheaty fashion.
This is happening to me too and it’s so annoying. My dog keeps destroying my furniture because I can’t scold him. I’ve had to buy the same couch three times.
You basically have to use the cheats above, this issue as far as I can tell only exists on the legacy sims 2, My physical copies that I have installed on an old computer works fine. If you don't want to use cheats, make them 'outdoor pets' by clicking on the doors to your house selecting lock -> disallow pets, make sure to purchase them a kennel to sleep in. I've experienced other issues with the pets as well ie, not eating when hungry or sleeping when tired. I doubt EA will patch anything when it comes to a 20 year old game.
