The Sims 2 bug: out of reach pop-ups

I've been playing The Sims 2 Legacy Collection the past couple of days, and it has been going well for the most part, but I have also come across an issue that leaves be stuck sometimes.

In Buy Mode when I want to use the style picker for changing the appearance of an object, the pop-up sometimes appears in places where I cannot reach it.

Sometimes it's fine. Sometimes 75% of the pop-up is off screen, so I need to drag it in before I can interact with it. Sometimes it's completely off screen and inaccessible to me. I have attempted to find keyboard commands that could close the window but had no luck with it.

I've lost progress in my builds several times because I got stuck with the style pop-up and had to restart the game.
