[The Sims 2 Legacy] After patch, kids still disappear

I was having issues with adult sims disappearing pre-patch, that seems to be fixed, but now kids are disappearing after downloading the patch :( 

I saved and left a lot with 2 adults, one toddler and 2 twin babies, played another family, saved and left that to find that the previously mentioned family had all their children's icons look like black boxes. When I loaded in, they were just gone! The adults did have memories of the kids as $subject or something. Hopefully it gets fully fixed soon :)
