The Sims 2: Legacy Collection glitch

This is an in-game issue. I was playing the game fine, saved and was able to load saves fine.

Today, Feb 15 I updated the game and when I went into my household I was not able to leave buy/build mode. For whatever reason the Live Mode button was unclickable. I tried to troubleshoot, restarted EA app, restart PC and everything but continue to have this issue. I tried moving my sim out of her home and into a new home, two different time. First time the lot opened right into buy mode again, and the second time I got to see the taxi animation but never saw my sim, and again it went into buy mode and Live Mode was unclickable. I couldn't find another post on this issue, so I am writing to see if there is a fix. Please help, I really want to play and not lose this household. ;)
