Title: Custom skin color mod not working in The Sims 2 Re-Release
Description:
After updating to the The Sims 2 Re-Release version, I am unable to use a custom skin color mod from the Downloads folder. When attempting to apply the mod in-game, only a checkmark and an "X" appear next to the skin color option, but they are not selectable. The game then freezes and becomes unresponsive. All other mods that were compatible with the old version (Ultimate Collection) continue to work fine, including the skin color mods.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch the game after installing the Re-Release version.
- Place a custom skin color mod in the Downloads folder.
- Attempt to select the skin color in Create-A-Sim mode.
- Notice that only a checkmark and an "X" are shown, which are not selectable.
- The game freezes and becomes unresponsive.
- You can only completely cancel the creation of a Sim
Expected Result:
The custom skin color mod should be selectable and applied without issue.
Actual Result:
A checkmark and an "X" appear, which are not selectable, and the game freezes.
Operating System:
Windows 10
Game Version:
The Sims 2 Re-Release Version (or provide the specific version if applicable)
Additional Information:
- All other mods from the old version (Ultimate Collection) are functioning correctly, including custom skin colors.
- The issue only occurs in the Re-Release version of the game.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Removed all mods from the Downloads folder and restarted the game.
- Tested the skin color mod without other mods — issue persists.
- Cleared the game’s cache files and restarted the game.
Feel free to send this report to the developer, a forum, or a bug-tracking platform, and hopefully, the issue will be looked into!
“What else can I do? This is really no fun. I’d rather just play the old version, it works perfectly.”
