Over the past week or so I've been slowly recording game play for Episode 5. The problem I'm having is constant crashing.
I started by reducing graphics and resetting a few individual sims. The problem with that is all gains made by resetting sims were lost by crashing and reloading and resetting and crashing and so on indefinitely.
Eventually, I managed to make some progress by resetting the lot and I managed to save that. But crashing and script errors continues so I reset the entire town and saved that too.
The last time I had this type of issue I saved the house to the library and moved the family from Moonlight Falls to a Appaloosa Plains and that worked. I'm currently wondering if I need to do this again, but I want to try to stay in Appaloosa Plains for a bit longer if I can manage it.
It's been winter with constant blizzards during the whole of my efforts to get some progress in the game. I thought this might be contributing to my problems. So, I reduced the duration of Winter from 14 to 7 days leaving just 2 days for it to go. The game still has 1 day before Spring. There has been several frustrating crashes since then. So I went into Options and chose to not allow Snow or Fog. The driving snow stopped but the wind is still howling.
I've been setting tasks for my sims and then going to map view and hovering over an empty part of the world and have managed to save some progress this way. I'm telling them to do things that take time to accomplish. I'm looking at their wishes, or getting them to read books, write books or do other skilling activities. Now there is only 1 more day to the end of Winter. Hoping the Spring will bring better weather.
Two of the teens look as if they are ready to age up to Young Adult. I'm trying to get them to finish a few tasks and then have a birthday party and move to Vice City. That will reduce the number of Sims in the household from 16 to 14. I hope that helps. Included in that group of Sims are 2 horses and a small dog and a cat.
This is a bit frustrating. I can't get much video if I'm hovering over an empty part of the landscape, but I can't get the sims to more along their lives if I am in the house watching and recording their antics. I have managed to record a few interesting things. But haven't managed to save the game play of some of what I've recorded.
I think tomorrow I will age the two teens up. Have two parties as usual and make sure I save and reload after each party. Then Bill can take them to Vice City. There are four more teens to age up but they have a lot more work to do before they are ready to move. I will have to move them out before risking a first pregnancy for Donna. The next video might be a couple of trips to Vice City for Bill with two lots of newly aged up Young Adults.
I was hoping to keep Don and Olivia in the house until they die of old age, but I'm wondering if I'm going to have to move them out to a retirement home somewhere to make room for the third generation.
I've had enough of frustration with the game for today so will get back to it tomorrow.
Happy Simming
