My new video series - Perfect Genetics Challenge - is now available for viewing on YouTube. https://youtu.be/iQUhw5SbutM This video is a little over 16 minutes. It is an introduction to my foun...
lanlynk I set up Lucky Palms and added its new nhd to the game.
Of course, I had to add just about everything possible to the world which means it may or may not run. It seems to be doing OK so far. It's go the casino (my version) and most of the Showtime venues. Some Supernatural venues. A fire station, junk yard, consignment store and one of my rollercoasters. Plus a few other things. There is no bakery, but I added the pretty cake hangout from Sweet Treats stuff pack, and I put some bakery racks into it. I'm happy. I have no choice as there are no more empty lots. I was considering bulldozing a few houses so I could add more stuff. I'll see what happens as I play.
However, the crashing continues. The main house is way too big. I haven't been culling its contents (other than moving out sims) due to them having so much excess Simoleans. I had also moved the horse paddock with their barn and stalls to Luck Palms. I placed it on a big lot. I think it's 50x50 so the horses have lots more room to gallop around. It is opposite the main house now.
I had problems moving sims from the base camp (a house I set as a base camp using the mod). I eventually managed to move them into the main house, but they were still on vacation and their only travel options were to return home or travel. I decided to move Don and Olivia out. I moved them into the horse paddock with the horses. That lot i s not currently owned by the main household. When I moved them out they got to keep most of the Simoleans and I used that to add a new basement and set it up so they could live in comfort. I'm not doing much with them any more so they will still be around. Then I started worrying about them dying of old age and losing all the special items they have accumulated in their inventories. So I decided to move Cindy and Bil in with them. Through a complicated process of moving them all out to another random house and then moving them back into the horse paddock house I finally managed to break the tie to Appaloosa plains and they no longer have the option to return home. So that was a relief.
But it was still crashing. I managed to save with the main household active. I decided to demolish the house. It is so huge and is so full of stuff they don't need I thought that is most likely to main issue since it now has only 10 sims in it including the cat and dog. They got only 50,000 Simoleans when I split up the household. So I'm gradually demolishing the house and keeping the Simoleans they get from that to build a new place for them. I'm down to the ground level now so only have it and the basement to go. The crashing has stopped. I saved twice without having to shut down between saves. I think I might have found the fix. Once I've got them organised I'll transfer the household inventory items from the horse paddock and sell all of that too. Don and Olivia don't need what's in there.
I had to stop for a while as I had an appointment at the gym. I always feel lots better after a workout.
This is what the house looks like at the moment.
I am saving any items I want them to keep - especially the gnomes. So I'm doing the demolition slowly. I'm not sure about the greenhouse. I might get rid of it too and start with a new one. Or I might leave it. Not sure yet.
This new setup will allow the third generation to get started without much more delay once I've got their new house built. I have an idea for the new design. It'll be different from the old house.
All seems to be going well. The house is almost fully set up. It'll do for now. I just need to add a TV and some living room objects. There's plenty of space for them. I planned to get rid of the basement, but in the end, I kept it. I had to add some long narrow corridors down there to allow them to access it. I gave them a roof garden this time - got rid of the old greenhouse. Lucky I did that as just about all of the plants in it were barren, but I had to click on each one to discover this.
I think I've just about got all the changes completed to my satisfaction. I played the game for an hour or so this morning and right on 9am the computer shut down. We finally found a notice in the letterbox saying they are working on it and the power and internet would be down until 3pm. So I found other things to do. The power was back on around 1 pm but the internet was not available until around 4pm. By then I was doing other things. It's now around 6 pm and it's over 30 degrees Celsius here and I'm not feeling like sitting at the computer for ages tonight.
Here's a bit of an update on what's happening in the game. Bill's lifetime wish is to become a celebrated 5-star chef. He's now working on the final level of the culinary career. I want him to get his LTW and would like them to have the reward fridge. I know it is available from a mod but I decided to move him back into the main household and will keep him there until he is very close to achieving his LTW. I don't want the game to suddenly decide to put him into a different career. I might activate the household he belongs in now and play it for a while after he gets close to achieving his wish.
All of the teens returned to C Grade at school when I moved them to Lucky Palms. It took them a few days and now they are all A Grade. The important pair are Oliver and Poppy. They will age up soon. Probably in the next episode I post.
Donna is pregnant so we will have the first child born to Generation 3 soon.
I've still got a few things to fix around the house. The two main things are adding a swimming pool as I forgot to add one and I like having the children fish in the pool. The other thing is the chairs I used for the dining room They are broken. They came with a store set and the have been fixed - but only the individual chair is fixed. So to get the fixed chair into the game the entire set needs to be installed item by item. I always do that but obviously messed up this time. I might have accidentally installed the set after installing the items from it individually. The fix is to set up a new Sims 3 folder and reinstall everything. I think I'll just use a different chair.
I think I may have enough recorded now to make the next episode. Tomorrow I'll start putting it together but I want to wait for the baby to be born before completing the video.
This is a pic of the new house as it was a few days ago. It is still much the same but has changed a bit since then. The horse paddock is partially in the foreground. That's where Olivia, Don, Cindy and Bill now live. The horses seem to love having such a large lot to gallop around in. I made their pond bigger and put way too many fish spawners in it. I might have to remove a few of them.
I haven't forgotten about the video on how to have a huge wedding. I just want to get this next episode out first.
