- Newsea has a lot of hairs on TSR and that's free, but you probably already knew that. :)
- NovelistAnneNew SpectatorNo, I don't pay for CC because it's basically illegal. They just get around the actual law by calling it 'donations'. But it's not allowed to ask money for modifications to a game unless you yourself own the rights to that game and since Newsea is not EA he/she doesn't have this right. I used to get the donation hairs from newsea from paysitesmustbedestroyed but I believe that website was closed down unfortunately.
- SimplyJenRising SpectatorThe only CC I have paid for was a donation to Sandy @ AroundTheSims. I have no experience with any other site or creator, sorry OP.
I can understand be worried about TheSimsResource. I don't download from there often but when I do, I use Adblock Plus and TSR Ad Skipper (free browser add-ons). It also helps that I have Norton and Malwarebytes. I convert all sims3packs to package form and place it in a separate folder from the rest of the CC. If something goes wrong, I can easily find it and remove it. Doesn't hurt to keep game backups as well. - Lol no. I think the B00ty was the first thing I went looking for when I first looked for TS3 CC.
And moan about how unfair and bad downloading retextured hair is to creators, but if they put hair behind paywalls or annoying ad-ridden sites and put godawful textures on them, it's deserved. - I am a strong advocate of not paying for CC. It's either free stuff from Tumblr or the b.o.o.t.y for me.
It's possible because you sent the email over the weekend they just haven't got to it yet, dunno. - graceymanorsNew Hotshot

I never heard of "b.o.o.t.y" might have to check that out. There's just certain hairs that I had from before that I need to redownload due to a messed up folder, but now their donation hair."Odonata68;c-16079107" wrote:

I try not to download from TSR.Always heard that site is full of viruses through their ads and a lot of items are corrupted. So I try to avoid them. - KittybassNew SpectatorI think one of my friends donated to Newsea before. I can ask her what her experience was but I'm not sure when she'll be around, she hasn't been on as much as she used to, but I can ask her next time I talk to her.
- No, no, hell no. Charging for your downloads is pretty illegal, and it's a scummy thing to do. Creators can create a Patreon or a PayPal for donations just fine, but restricting access to their downloads is not okay.
What I DO think is acceptable is the model that creators like AroundTheSims and Understretch-Imaginations have, where you get a bunch of extra items if you donate to them. AroundTheSims keeps them restricted as "premium items", Understretch simply puts them up on Patreon a month before he puts them up on his site. - @Springfairy556 I have a few things from TSR but I'm very selective about what I download and only pick CC from the featured artists. I also have Ad Block Plus so the ads don't become an issue. The biggest issue I have with TSR is how slowly the pages load. :s
