A thought about retuning bills percentage

Impossible. What you want requires witchcraft, voodoo, unicorn magic, and the Powers of Evil (or Economics, take your pick). It's not going to happen. Fahgettaboudit. :p

Or you could use the SP Money add-on module and set up both Property Taxes (the bills) and Income Taxes, a great equalizer as well that doesn't exist in the game itself or the base mod, at different rates by caste. I do this in every world I play, the actual rates per world differ because my world economies are so different as some worlds have many more high wage earners than others, some have sims living on Old Money more so than others. For most of them I've defined three levels by Net Worth, a few have more. I could give you some sample rates off the top of my head as I'm not near enough to my game right now, if that helps at all.

Note that without SP Money and its Unified Billing option switched on, inactive households do not pay property tax (bills) anyway. Many of us find that highly unrealistic.

On the destitute or under-employed, also note that SP Money has optional provisions for welfare and social security for those residents around you who truly need it.

What I don't like about auto-pay is that if the household is truly living paycheck to paycheck, they don't have the luxury of delaying bill payments just slightly if things are cutting it too close on the budget. But that's just me.

Let's see now...

First I would set up a Middle Class and an Upper Class automatic caste with the criteria below. The rest of the town, those who do not meet these criteria, would by definition fall into the Lower Class.

Middle Class
Net Worth At Least §200,000
Net Worth At Most §399,999

Upper Class
Net Worth At Least §400,000

(again these ranges are going to differ by world, it's not my intent to have all sims in the lowest class nor a really high percentage of them in the highest)


SP > Town Options > Money:Property Tax > 1
SP > Town Options > Money:Income Tax > 0

SP > Caste Options > Middle Class > Money:Property Tax > 2
SP > Caste Options > Middle Class > Money:Income Tax > 5

SP > Caste Options > Upper Class > Money:Property Tax > 4

With MasterController, you can run Demographics reports on Cash, Net Worth, and Debt. With NRaas Tagger, you can set it to see available cash and net worth on the sim tags in Map View. But yes, in a modless game these things are trickier to find out.

Not sure why inactives wouldn't be expected to take out the trash occasionally if they are being animated, and thus actually generating some trash, while inside of their houses.

On the bills and maybe the other mailbox related things, you see every household in town doing this regularly, every sim week? As far as I know without a mod like SP Money (or maybe Awesome?) to allow for it, this can only happen if the player has recently made that household inactive and the final billing cycle is still running, so perhaps for the next sim week or so. I've similarly seen it take an extra sim week for the active household to start getting bills depending on where in the cycle they were switched into. But, as far as I know, regularly and across the board was never really intended by EA.

@UnseenHorizon - There are also totally uninhabited taxis, really meant for urban worlds like Bridgeport, that drive around to no destination in particular for ambiance and routinely just disappear. The formula for if they appear and in what number is supposed to depend on the number of highrise building shells the world has.

Those don't add to vehicular clutter because they aren't "real," but they can switched off or dialed back using a setting in NRaas Traffic, the Traffic Delta option (make it negative on the order of -500 if you want these to stop appearing in that world entirely).

The problem with retuning this option is because of StoryProgression and how age span scaling affects careers in terms of how long it takes to get to the top of the career and how much money is earned. I would love to change this to tax richer households more (as it's a percentage of wealth) but I don't want to damage households with unemployed or low income sims. It would make it incredibly difficult for them to actually save up money if I changed this.

Let me know what you think of this though.

Yeah I've been looking into this module and just installed it (been slowly adding new SP modules and testing them for a while).

I like some of the options it adds, specifically inheritance is something I've wanted for my elders who have moved out.
Also the ability to auto pay bills because *cough* I forget to pay them

I haven't fully configured it yet but sample rates would be really helpful! :smile:

@igazor - Here I go with the different game, again. Townies in my SV world do pay bills! I was surprised to see this but I promise you its true. I saw Erin Kennedy paying her bills but it wasn't on a Monday or Thursday (normal bill days). I've also seen them checking the mail and removing the little white packages with the red bow on their own as well as taking out the trash; all things I thought were meant for only the active household. I've also seen them wait for my Sim once they invite them over to hang out. Again, these are things which I thought were reserved for the player only.

When it comes to money issues, I have to have my Sim do the 'grapevine' thing to find out which households have gone completely broke - 0 simoleons so I can go into 'Edit Town' and 'Family Fund' them some cash.

@igazor - No mods installed when I saw these things. I didn't play Erin, my Sim lived across the street from her, that's why it surprised me. As for trash, no, I didn't think they would generate trash or keep foods or anything else long enough to generate trash in a 'townie' status; I thought it was all for show. I also thought the paperboy/girl only delivered to the active household. It wasn't until I saw them delivering to other households did I call this into question. Things are at the point now, where I figure if I can do it, nine times out of ten they can too. Now, I'm wondering if they actually purchase groceries when they walk out of the store.

Update

Configured the Money module and applied these castes to the game and things are going well. Already seen Sims inheriting from dead relatives, buying new vehicles and deeds to buildings. I've had a few false positive debt detections on dying Sims who've given out their wealth and some concerns regarding vehicle cleanup and how that effects newly purchased vehicles for inactive Sims. (Would be kind of silly if the game was like: "Oh sorry, you can't have that vehicle because it counts as littering the game, sorr-yyyy")
