A way to use birthday cakes with aging off?

Hello, after playing looong years of TS3 with aging on but on epic life-cycles, I had to turn aging off after encountering a bug which randomly aged up my sims before their time. So for a while I'm playing with aging off, and I use MC's "trigger age transition" when I decide I want to age up my sim. However, I can no longer use birthday cakes to age up my sims with aging turned off. I was wondering if there is a cheat or component of a mod that would let me use birthday cakes when aging is turned off... Would appreciate any ideas, thank you!
  • Birthday cakes for actively controlled sims are supposed to still be usable when aging is switched off. In fact, a mistake players often make is to switch the game's aging control back on when a sim is on the last day of their current age stage and then also present them with a cake. If done in relatively rapid succession, the sim stands to age up twice -- once for just being old enough to do so and once for the cake.

Possibly the sim(s) in question are not responding to the cakes because something else is wrong, such as an issue with their current outfits that do not allow them to yield to an age-up properly.
  • @rubyskywalker: They should be affected too. Aging up with testingcheats is always there. But you can tell Pets was made before there was a real industry around birthday treats for dogs, lol.

@Zei Hmm... that's funny, I've always played with aging off, but I don't remember ever having any problems with using the birthday cake for aging up.
  • @igazor @SuzyCue72 Oh... That's insightful. Wonder what else may be wrong. What kind of outfits may present a problem, career maybe? I need to check again, thanks for giving me the heads up!
  • @Zei If you're using any type of third party content, (that means content NOT made by EA) the first thing to try if/when you get bugs, glitches or any other type of problems with your game is a Factory Reset.

How to do a Factory Reset:

    1. Go to your The Sims 3 user folder.

    2. Rename your existing folder "The Sims 3 old".

    3. Start the game and let it generate a new clean user folder without any thirdparty content.

    4. Play a while and see if the problems persist. If not, that's an almost 100 % sure sign that they're caused by bad third party content in your old user folder.
  • Seems like my problem is fixed! I don't even know how hahah. I had done a Factory Reset for a different issue, maybe that did the trick. Thanks for the assistance!
  • Since we are talking about aging and cakes... if I turned off aging do pets continue to age, if not how do I age them up?.
