There is free content. I think it is for sharing memories but I forget the details. There are several items of free content.
The main reason I do it now is it gives me ideas for game play as the challenges make you explore parts of the game you may never have found otherwise and learning about them through doing badges makes the game more interesting.
Well, the memory achievements do come with various freebies, and the "Moderator" achievement did came with forum goodies too, back them. Besides that, I have to agree with
