Achievement Thread - Guide on how to achieve them
I decided to start a new achievement thread, to help fellow simmers who might be needing it. At the moment, it still could be typos galore, though, so I will most likely have to edit it several times...
I came up with the following categorization:
Easiest achievements are what I refer to as the item type achievement, which requires you to acquire a specific item and use them sometimes once, sometimes couple times. They are also the most numerous ones. They are listed like: "Perform the "Genious IQ" interaction five times". Most can be done by anyone, and once you've performed whatever you have to do, sell said item and move on to the next "chore".
Next are gathering type achievements, which require you to acquire some items and, sometimes to use them. Listed like "Collect 10 space rocks" or "Use the gem cutting machine to cut gems 20 times". Again, those can be completed by anyone, and do not need a specially created sim.
Next are venues type achievements. Require you to do something specific (or several specific actions) at a specific place (or a small number of specific places) (places here meaning either venues or rabbitholes), like "Have your face painted (and etc...) at the festival". Once again, most of those can be completed by anyone, and do not need a specially created sim, though at time some traits might help.
Next are social type achievements. Require you to perform social interactions with other sims and/or achieve a set level of relationship with a single or more sims. Traits definitely help for those.
Next are career type achievements. Require you to reach a certain level in a specific career and, at times, to do something specific. Traits definitely help for those.
Next are skills type achievements. Most of the time, require you to do an action or interaction that is specific to a specific skill, or that mainly require this skill. Traits definitely help for those.
Next are traits type achievements. Require you to have a sim with a specific trait and perform something specific. Like: "Have an Insane sim talk to themselves 15 times".
Next are lifewishes type achievements. Require you to have a sim with a specific lifewhish and fulfill it. Traits definitely help for those.
Complex achievements are those that require multiple complex actions, and sometimes a great deal of gametime. However, there are not many of them.
Online achievements are achievements that may or may not have little to do with the game itself, but rather with the TS3 online community.
Bugged achievements are achievements that are bugged for some reasons and won’t trigger. I’ve listed three of them.
There are also some other achievements that are no longer unlockable, and that I’ve listed as having been removed by EA. I couldn’t find an exhaustive list of all of them, so if anyone has a link about those, it would be appreciated.
Also, though basic achievements can be done in a single action, some players may be tempted to get the more elaborate ones using multiple sims or households. So I added a note when an achievement requires to be fulfilled by a single sim (Sim specific), or pools all your household efforts (Household specific), or pools all your sims efforts, in all the saves you play using a specific computer together, for its fulfillment (Cross saves).
A word of advice regarding achievements: Unless explicitly required to do so, avoid working on an achievement using or targeting an occult, as a lot of them won’t trigger.
I’ve also added some personal tips and suggestion. There are some achievements that I still haven’t unlocked, and I marked those accordingly.
