Am I able to place a boat on my houseboat lot?

I've played Island Paradise many times before, and I had several Sims which owned smaller boats, but maybe not on a houseboat lot? My Sim is living on the pre-made Happy Houseboat lot, and there are mooring posts and cleats all over the pier and the lot on which my houseboat is placed, but I am unable to place my Aqua Sled Wave Runner. The mooring post or boat cleat obviously needs to placed on the actual houseboat itself or the boat can not to be placed. Can someone please tell me if I'm missing something, or if we are just unable to place a small boat off of a houseboat at all?
Thank you. :)

I've taken a boat along w/a houseboat by putting a boat trailer in a basement under the houseboat, like:

I doubt, even if you found a way to get a post or cleat actually on the houseboat, that there is coding that would allow a boat to be towed along with it (which I think is the point). In case you're wondering, sims could use my basement boat similarly to how they use cars in backpacks. I think they were inclined to leave the boat in their backpack afterwards, though, so I would put it back on the trailer myself. I don't know that this needed to be in a basement - I just didn't want to use up space above deck for it.

(Edited to add: Not sure how I got the blue type - must have picked it up from my picture link somehow.)

I read your post again and realized it's because you can't moor a boat at the pier lot. Been a long time since I've played with the content, but I think I had to own the pier lot, as well as the houseboat, to be able to use anything at the pier. So, maybe buying the lot would solve your problem?
