It has to be strays. Adopted pets don't count, as I'm trying to do this same LTW as well and thought I could make it easier via adopting.

Or you could just buy one of those Luring Gnomes out on the front long and make sure it is set to attract "visitors" of the animal that the Gnome is holding up on the sign...

Actually, you can adopt strays, adopt, and visit other sims and ask for a kitten/puppy.

Can you confirm if the counter goes up when you adopt, because mine didn't.

Interesting... How many animals did the counter get you?

I can't remember off the top of my head right now. I want to say the LTW asks for 20.

All I know is that when I adopted a cat, the counter stayed the same after the cat was added to my testing household. I just assumed that the Animal Rescuer LTW only counted strays at that point.

If it is suppose to count adopted pets as well, I'll need a confirmation from another player before I test the scenario again and put it in my bug report.

Has it gone up at all? Perhaps even adopting strays doesn't work...I know the guide has been wrong before, but this new author has so far had wicked accuracy.

I'm having a hard time adopting Strays in my test game right now, mostly because my Sims are asleep or at work when the Gnomes I have out summons one to the front door.

It also doesn't help that when my Sims are actually on the lot that their dog ends up barking at the stray and scares it off... :x

EDIT: I need to see if I can scold the dog for barking at strays next time this happens. I know I can scold it for barking at other Sims (and even when the TV is turned on and he gets freaked out by it), but I need to see if I can catch him barking at a stray to scold him next time...
