Can I change World Info?

I'm not sure exactly what to call this but at the Main Menu screen when you select a world, such as Sunset Valley, you get a box under the name with a little blurb, like "Before Pleasantville...". I usually redo the worlds I play to the way I like them and when I've saved it, I have the box at the Main Menu screen but it's blank. Is there a way to add the info about my world? I'm not sure what this box or the info is actually called or I'd google it.

  • I've had success a couple of times using Custard to open the s3pack of the world, change the info in the description box, saving and then installing the s3pack normally.

    I generally don't install any s3packs to my game, I always extract them, but once you've opened the world and saved it you can't reopen it with custard without an error ( at least I can't )

    Instead, if you prefer to install world files like I do, I remove my sims 3 folder from My Documents to a safe location, open the launcher and let it generate a new one, install the world, then go to the Installed Worlds folder and cut & paste the world file to Program Files - Electronic Arts - The Sims 3 - Game Data - Shared - Non Packaged - Worlds.

    Then I delete the new folder in My Docs, and replace it with my proper EA folder and just load my game as normal. The World description should have changed.
    It hasn't on the odd occasion I have done it, but on most of them, it has.

    If you simply prefer to install your worlds just as a sims 3 pack then you don't need to do all the convoluted cutting and pasting steps that I do :D

    Thanks for replying, I will check out Custard. I have a feeling putting my own info in the box may be just more trouble than it's worth, lol.
  • If you're doing your editing in CAW, the simplest way to get your own info into the world file is in the third post on this page, about 2/3 of the way down. But when you delete the WPID file, you will also need to enter the name of the world and put in a thumbnail.

    Hi :)
    If they're doing it for their own game, they don't have to delete the WPID. That just makes it so the world can be either played along side of the other world or reuploading to the Exchange.

    @nickibitsward
    If the world is being edited in CAW, just right click on the .world (ex: Sunset Valley_lite.world) in the World Layers box and click on the option: Add/Edit Description.

    You can rename the world and rewrite the world description.

    Save it. :cookie:

    Thanks for replying. I don't have CAW, I am just going into the Sunset Valley World for example, redoing all the vegetation, families, buildings and making it my own. I often get rid (kill them all) of the existing families and replace them with my own and call my new "world" something else. I just wanted to put a little info about the world in that box. (I seem to remember in Sims 2 you could do that, they had those templates).
